Michigan Chat Policies
Community Guidelines
Practical conduct standards for a trusted, adult, real-identity Michigan community.
1Adults only
Michigan Chat membership and member features are for people age 18 or older. Do not create, operate, or share an account for a minor.
2Use your real identity
Use your real identity when applying and interacting with Michigan Chat. Do not impersonate another person, create deceptive identities, falsify affiliation, or intentionally mislead Michigan Chat about who you are. A Handle / Nickname may be used where available, but the account remains tied to the verified identity.
3This is not an adult-content platform
Michigan Chat is not for pornography, sexually explicit performances, sexual services, escort services, commercial sexual activity, or solicitation for adult-content platforms. Do not use profiles, chat, video, events, links, media, or private communications to conduct or promote prohibited sexual activity.
4No threats, harassment, or intimidation
Do not threaten, stalk, harass, intimidate, bully, extort, blackmail, repeatedly contact someone who has clearly asked you to stop, or encourage others to target a person.
5No fraud, scams, or impersonation
Do not use Michigan Chat for scams, deceptive fundraising, fraudulent sales, phishing, identity theft, payment fraud, fake opportunities, fake organizations, fabricated credentials, or misleading representations.
6Respect privacy and consent
Do not publish private personal information, account credentials, confidential material, private communications, images, audio, video, or identifying information without appropriate permission or legal authority. Do not secretly record or redistribute communications in violation of applicable law.
7No illegal or dangerous activity
Do not use Michigan Chat to facilitate unlawful activity, exploitation, trafficking, coercion, credible threats of violence, malicious hacking, distribution of malware, or other conduct that creates a serious safety or security risk.
8No spam or platform abuse
Do not mass-message members, scrape or harvest data, operate bots without authorization, probe security controls, evade bans, abuse invitation systems, create deceptive duplicate accounts, overload services, or interfere with other members’ access.
9Be accurate when representing a business or organization
Business and organization accounts must accurately identify the entity and use an authorized adult contact. Do not falsely claim to represent a business, organization, public body, club, association, or other entity.
10Content standards
Content should be lawful, relevant to the feature being used, and reasonably appropriate for a Michigan-focused community platform. Michigan Chat may reject or remove misleading listings, irrelevant promotional material, unsafe links, manipulated identity information, prohibited sexual material, or content that creates legal, safety, or security concerns.
11Reporting safety concerns
Active members may use the member-only Report a Safety Concern feature to report suspected violations. Provide truthful information and relevant evidence. Do not file false, retaliatory, or knowingly misleading reports.
12No retaliation for good-faith reporting
Do not threaten, harass, intimidate, expose, punish, or retaliate against another person because you believe they submitted a good-faith safety report or cooperated with a review.
13Enforcement
Depending on severity and history, Michigan Chat may warn a member, restrict a feature, unpublish material, suspend an account, permanently remove an account, preserve evidence, or refer a matter to appropriate authorities. Serious conduct may result in immediate action without a prior warning.
14Appeals and discretion
You may contact Michigan Chat regarding an account or moderation decision. Michigan Chat may review the matter but is not required to restore access, republish content, or reverse an action when continued restriction is reasonably necessary to protect the service or enforce policy.
